About Mia
I integrate clinical counselling with sex education, supporting people in exploring intimacy, embodiment, and relationships in ways that feel safe and authentic. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, nuanced, and exploratory, rooted in both evidence-informed practice and lived experience. I aim to help clients move beyond performance or goals, toward deeper connection with themselves and others, while making space for the emotional and relational patterns that shape their lives.
-
My professional background is in clinical counselling, sex education, applied psychology, and somatic work, and I am a registered Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling (MPCC-P) with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA).
I have experience and specialized training in affirmative sex, consent, boundaries, STBBI prevention, gender-affirming care, trauma-informed practice, crisis intervention, addiction recovery support, restorative conflict resolution, and crisis and post-crisis support for survivors of sexualized and interpersonal violence. -
Influenced by psychodynamic therapy and informed by a decade of engagement with psychoanalytic work, I practice with both directness and compassion, paying attention to how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and cultural narratives continue to shape how my clients live and relate today. Rather than focusing only on behaviours or surface-level solutions, I’m often interested in the deeper emotional meanings, contradictions, and relational dynamics that emerge through the therapeutic process. My work brings together insights from both North American and European clinical and cultural contexts.
-
My practice welcomes adults of all physical abilities, sexual orientations, relationship structures, genders and cultural backgrounds.
